What do we need on the handout we are supposed to give to the class?
The ideas we have on character change and when it happens and the authors ideas and ALL of that? because that would be huge, like is it supposed to be that big; a huge informatin pack kind of thing, or what? |

Yes, you'll get more time in class. We had a great discussion on Friday and sometimes it's more important to do that then go with the plan. The plan? Well, let's vascillate between poetry and group work until Wednesay and start presentations on Thursday, Oct 4 (When I'll release the essay question) and Friday, Oct 5 and then we'll finish them on Wednesday, Oct 10 and Thursday Oct 11. We will use Oct 12 to talk about how to create a thesis, what works and what doesn't. Then we will write our essays on Tuesday Oct 16th. Sound fair?
Feel free to come to talk to me about any concerns. The handout need only be one page long: it's just so that everyone has something in their notes about your presentation. Try to get that to me the day before so I can photocopy it. |

OK I don't know about anyone else, but I'm frustrated! My group hasn't done anything concrete yet!! We have these great discussions but nothing has gotten done!! I feel like survivor where the tribe is getting demolished, and we need a leader but no one will step up. I've tried a bit but still nothing is happening.
Come Monday, if everyone's here, I think something will happen....or maybe my group members will see this and take a hint?.....even though they don't know who I am....unless they do..
Slightly freaking out,

Is a presentation more useful if you challenge the audience to think or if you present an idea?
In my gourp's presentation we are presenting ideas and then battling them with ourselves to expose boths sides of the coin. The same as the thesis and antithesis idea when writing an essay where you say what you think then present an argument toward your own opinion. In the presentation I don't want to just say this is our idea and we are right end of disscusion. I think it is more effective to let the class decide for themselves, if you give them all the information and facts from multiple points of veiw.
To me this is an effective way of teaching, because I have learned so much from my group members by them sharing their ideas with me. I may not agree with what they say, but I can use it to create new thoughts and interperet further which I found really helped me.
Is it bad not to have one concrete point, If we are presenting our ideas and the tools needed to develope you own as an individual?
In the end a classmate would never write an essay on an idea I told them if it did not imspire them. |

I completely agree with you, ideaspeak.
i learn so much just by discussing on this forum and the ideas that spread in our class discussions.
in blindness, i've learnt so much more about the characters and why lots of things happen. Now because our group is alot more ready to present, i'm so excited to share our ideas!!
..class discussions alot help ALOT with poetry, by the end of the class i actually understand what they're about! |

| I never thought of this before, and its too late now so ill just share this idea with everyone on here... for the presentations it would have been really neat to get blind folds for everyone in the class. I know are class is really shy and doesnt speak their minds much so maybe this could have opened people up to more discusion. And what better way to get more of a feel for the theme of the book. What would you do if you knew no one was watching and what would you say if no one could see who you are? |

| The presentations thus far have been unbelievable. I know I’m getting alot out of them. I have filled pages on possible ideas and examples for the essay. Blindness is a very unique book as there are so many angles a reader can look at it from. It’s not the typical and generic novel where you can tunnel in on one particular interpretation. I’m sure there are still many roads for me to explore on the novel. |

ya it is. but not everyone in our class has even signed up for this and some who did sign up dont even post.
i just thought that would be more interesting than everyone in the class presenting a power point/ poster.. which is still okay i guess |

| I found that the presentations had really helped me to develop my ideas for our essay. I find that i get more out of something if we share our ideas together with one another. The presentations had allowed me to expand upon my own ideas and see things in a different way. I thanked everyone for doing such a great job on their presentations. |
