Here's the choice of naughty titles to choose from: Perspepolis; Not Wanted on the Voyage; The Road; A Clockwork Orange; A Thousand Splendid Suns; Sandpiper; Brave New World; Fight Club; Cloud Nine; The Virgin and the Gypsy; Pillars of the Earth; No Fixed Address; Fade; Perfume; Catcher in the Rye.

I don't recommend that you use any of these titles to write your diploma exam on, largely because we won't have time to discuss the novels with the same depth that we discussed Blindness, the Kite Runner, Othello, or A Streetcar Named Desire.

I would like you to write a review of your book: the best of which will be posted on the Paul Kane webpage. Do check out the "Reading" section of the English Language Arts department for a picture of these different novels. You'll notice that not all of them are on the list above: that's because I'm more familiar with these titles than I am with some of the others, like Choke which I haven't read yet! (It's on my to read list!)

I've read Fight Club, and seen the movie, and if you liked the movie, you will LOVE the book.

Perspepolis; Not Wanted on the Voyage; The Road; A Clockwork Orange; A Thousand Splendid Suns; Sandpiper; Brave New World; Fight Club; Cloud Nine; The Virgin and the Gypsy; Pillars of the Earth; No Fixed Address; Fade; Perfume; Catcher in the Rye.

Hmm, decisions decisions... Some of these are already on my 'To Read' list, so it's going to be hard to pick. I'd like to read A Clockwork Orange, Sandpiper and Perfume, but I wouldn't mind rereading The Road or Fight Club(for the fourth time >.<). I think The Road would definately be worth the reread, there are still so many questions I have about that book... I guess I'll just have to sleep on it, hopefully I'll have a decision by the time we have to pick. Damnit, Persepolis would be good too...

Why on earth did you have to make a list of such good books Gibson Dodd!? I'm so torn! This is soo sadistic. D':

Hmm Brave New World or Not Wanted On the Voyage: two of my favorite things! Characterization is unforgettable in the second novel but completely forgettable in the first one. Both are incredibly controversial but Huxley wasn't getting death threats for his novel. You'll just have to read both of them!

And that goes for you, too, Kalevra! Some of these novels you can read in two hours. I have no pity on any of you.

Watch fewer movies; play fewer video games.

Yours in Reading,

Scott

Alright then, it's settled, I'm going to start with what I chose today, and once I've finished that, I'm going to move on to the next; we'll see how far I get by the end of Christmas break. Razz

I can't help but comment on this.

A Clockwork Orange was very very good! Anyone considering reading it really should! Well worth it! I thought Perspepolis was really good too for a graphic novel. And I've heard that Not Wanted on the Voyage, is rather crazy but a good read none the less. Had I any free time for a book I think I'd definately check it out.

K so what exactly do we have to do for this book review? What is the criteria? How long should it be?
